Organizing Classroom Environments [BCBA Session]

This presentation will discuss the elements of a structured classroom environment. Based on the knowledge of individual student needs, the design of the physical environment, the allocation of time and choice of educational activities, and the assignment of staff will all be described. Examples of real classrooms will be used to illustrate each of these areas and how they are combined to provide a well structured environment for children with autism spectrum disorders to be successful in.

Christine received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and holds Board Certification as a Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D). She is in a private practice, providing consultation to school districts around the country.

Susan received her Ed.D. from Nova Southeastern University. She is a Florida licensed speech-language pathologist and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She is the mother of a son, Michael, with ASD.
