This session will briefly define communication.
The speaker will then review frequent communication weakness associated with ASD.
The bulk of the session will then focus on showing the audience how to establish a functional communication system with the child through a combination of pictures, signs and words.
Families will learn how to get into their child's play, learn to set up situations where the child must interact, and how to find and use motivators to get interactions.
examples of preferred toys will be incorporated into the lecture to provide hands on examples
