Using Evidence-Based Practices in the Classroom

The National Professional Development Center on Autism Spectrum Disorders has developed a process for promoting program quality and the use of evidence-based focused intervention practices for students with autism. In this presentation, the process for establishing goals, selecting evidence-based practices, and assessing goal outcomes will be presented.
Learning Objectives:
- Participant will learn of one approach to assessing quality in program environments for students with autism spectrum disorders.
- Participants will learn about 24 evidence based focused intervention practices for student with autism.
- Participants will learn a process for linking student goals to evidence-based focused intervention practices.

Sam Odom, PhD is Principal Investigator of the Center on Secondary Education for Students with ASD and Director of the FPG Child Development Institute at UNC. Dr. Odom has served on several national initiatives on autism. Recent publications have addressed the efficacy of focused intervention approaches for students with ASD.
