As a married man with Asperger Syndrome(AS) and a Non Spectrum(NS) woman married to a man with PDD/NOS, these long time friends take a light, but serious look at understanding those relationships from both the NS and the AS perspective. Mrs. Moreno will present advice for the NS half of an NS/AS marriage and Dr. Shore will present advice for the AS half of these marriages and partnerships. This presentation will include skits and a "point - counterpoint" format.  The presenters will cover various aspects of marriages and life partnerships between people on the autism spectrum and people not on the autism spectrum.  Areas covered will be:  first attraction; courtship; intimacy; establishing a home; safe environments; negotiating routines; dividing responsibilities; social life; vacations and recreation, conflict resolution, effective marriage counseling techniques, rersidual challenges, and lasting blessings.  Dr. Shore brings many years of successful marriage and aquaintances with many other NS/AS married couples.  Mrs. Moreno brings 38 years of successful NS/PDD marriage and interviews with over 70 NS women married to AS men.

Diagnosed with "Atypical Development and strong autistic tendencies" & "too sick" for outpatient treatment Shore was recommended for institutionalization. Non-verbal until four, with support from parents, teachers and his wife, Stephen is now a professor at Adelphi University where research focuses on matching best practice to needs of autistic individuals.
