Abstract Submission Instructions for Oral and Poster Presentation

  • All abstracts are limited to a 400 word count, not including the title and author information. The electronic system will not accept abstracts exceeding the 400 word limit.
  • Tables and graphics may be uploaded to the electronic submission system. Including a table and/or graphic may reduce the number of words you will be permitted to submit. Please note that tables and graphics are included in the 400 word limit.
  • IPA strives to maintain fair balance in all meeting presentations and educational activities. Generic drug names are to be used. Commercial (product, brand) drug names may not be used anywhere in an abstract, on slides or on posters.
  • We recommend that you have all required information available when you actually begin submitting your abstract online. It is suggested that you should compose your abstract in your own word processor in order to check spelling and word count. In the online submission process you will submit the following information:
  • choose the meeting topic, subtopic, track and keywords in which you wish your work to be included from the list provided on the electronic system. A track is a group of sessions that will be particularly relevant to a specific discipline, concentration or area of study.

  • Title sheet information:
Abstract Title (all titles will be converted to Title Case after submitting)
    Presenter's Email
    Subtopic
    Track
    Affirmations

  • Keywords (up to three words)

  • Each author's affiliation, address, and email address information.

  • A completed Personal Disclosure for each author.

  • Submitting abstract text:
Compose your abstract off-line and either copy and paste it into the form, or submit it as an HTML file (this is recommended if your abstract contains a complex equation, many italicized words, superscripts, subscripts, many unusual symbols, or a table.)

  • Format the body of the abstract with the following sections (the section headers will be bolded automatically after the text has been submitted):
Objective: An introductory sentence indicating the objective and purpose of the study.
Design: A briefly worded description of the study design.
Materials and Methods: A description of experimental procedures including applicable statistical evaluation. For review papers, a description of the search process may be substituted.
Results: A summary of the data.
Conclusion: A statement of the study’s conclusion.
