Purchase Access1. Participants will recognize that those with ASD grow into adolescence and adulthood having wishes, desires and hopes (as their neurotypical peers do) but often lack the skills on how to achieve them.
2. Participants will better recognize that all/anyone can have adult relationships, but due to executive functioning and theory of mind difficulties, require help in the development of these relationships.
3. Participants will better understand the process of learning what vocational interests are and are not, how to measure them and most importantly how to connect the person with autism with meaningful employment.
Through intentional and proactive intervention, autistic teens and young adults can enter adulthood prepared to both be happy and to compete in their given field of interests It would appear that when such interventions are absent, the autistic youth flounders, struggles and at times becomes depressed, isolative and some become involved in the criminal justice system.
