Since 1991, Social Stories have been describing life to children, adolescents and adults with autism. A Social Story describes a situation, skill or concept according to defining criteria. This presentation explores how Social Stories can address unprecedented topics including violence, natural disasters, and resilience. Using case examples like the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, participants will leave with practical new ideas and an updated appreciation for Social Stories and their role in social and emotional learning for all of us.
