Learn new Innovative Teacher Strategies and tools that will reduce the use of restraints in the classroom. Too many children and teacher injuries have received national attention in finding new solutions for restraints. These strategies and tools work for college and professional football, baseball and basketball players as well as music and movie stars, and the question is, Why not for children with special needs?

Program Objectives:

Participants will learn:

Teachers and School Administrators will learn how to use the School Climate Assessment effectively (Not Survey) in developing an academic and School Safety game plan for all children, parents, school staff and the school district. (Workshop attendees will be asked to bring a copy of there current School Climate Assessment to the workshop for sharing).

 Learn new Innovative Teacher Strategies in Knowing the Child Before the First Days of School. (PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT)

Learn about new teaching tools that are innovative and concept proven “CALMING SOUNDS” used today by professional and college athletes, music entertainers and those working in the movie industry

School Bus Drivers and School Bus Monitors of Children with Special Needs cannot be forgotten.  “CALMING SOUNDS”

(PARENTALINVOLVEMENT).

Learn about the Changing Legal Landscape in dealing with Restraints and children with Emotional and Behavioral Disabilities

Learn about a new teaching tool through hands on staff training “EXTRA HANDS” Safety Shield that can and will protect children and school staff from serious injuries or death

Understanding the importance of the school climate assessment for all Special Needs Children and school staff so they will thrive and not just survive

Workplace Safety Conditions for Special Needs Teachers

Learn how “Restraints” must be used only as a last resort to prevent serious injury or death and not for discipline
