Technology and Employment: A Path to Success with Google Sketchup

The session is presented by Google and Easter Seals. Employment is a significant issue for individuals with ASD. Raising public awareness about employment is important to Easter Seals and Project Spectrum, a group providing people with autism the opportunity to express their creativity and develop skills using SketchUp 3D modeling software. SketchUp takes advantage of the strengths exhibited by many individuals on the spectrum; focusing on strengths can lead to employment. This session will highlight individual stories of success and initial outcomes in raising awareness through the contest Sketch-a-Space.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will be able to list strategies that lead to successful employment and how technology capitalizes on these strategies.
- Participants will be able to describe how SketchUp 3D Modeling software is used by individuals with autism to increase their likelihood of employment
- Participants will increase their awareness of the Sketch-a-Space contest and its effort to raise awareness about autism and employment
