This presentation will explore the college experience from the Autistic self-advocate experience presented in the Navigating College handbook. Leaving high school and going to college is complicated. In Navigating College: A Handbook on Self Advocacy, Written for Autistic Students from Autistic Adults, writers and contributors give advice on subjects that they wished had been given to them, from accommodations to relationships and health to sensory issues.

Ari Ne'eman
President and Co-Founder
Autistic Self Advocacy Network

Ari Ne'eman is the President and Co-Founder of the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, an advocacy organization run by and for Autistic people seeking to increase the representation of Autistic people across society. In 2009, he was the first openly Autistic person nominated, by President Obama, to the National Council on Disability where he currently chairs the Council's Policy and Program Evaluation Committee.

Steven Kapp
Autistic Self Advocacy Network

Steven Kapp is an autistic self-advocate and autism researcher focused on building quality of life. He is a PhD student in educational psychology at UCLA, where he has worked academically and clinically on the social intervention PEERS for Young Adults. He co-directs the Autistic Self Advocacy Network - LA/UCLA Chapter, and works as a Youth Intern for the UCLA Tarjan Center on a California state project assisting youth and young adults with developmental disabilities to attain integrated, competitive employment.

Melody Latimer
Autistic Self-Advocate

Mrs. Latimer is an autistic self-advocate and mom to two autistic boys. She is a previous employee of a national Autistic advocacy organization. When not parenting her children, she writes extensively about critical life skills adults and children on the spectrum struggle with that are generally overlooked by professionals.
