Apps for Ipod, Ipad- Double Session

Parents, professionals, and school districts are purchasing i-devices in ever increasing numbers. With hundreds of thousands of Apps to choose from many of those being purchased are never used and if they are they are often underutilized. During this presentation participants will be challenged to develop a plan for individual users as Apps are reviewed in the areas of communication, educational instruction, social skills and transition. Methods for reviewing Apps and creative implementation will be demonstrated. Attendees are encouraged to bring tablets and other devices to try out these apps hands on.
Learning Objectives:
- Attendees will gain knowledge regarding commercially available Apps on i-devices with individuals with ASD to facilitate communication, education, and social skills
- Attendees will be provided with resources to review Apps prior to purchase to determine appropriateness for individual users
- Attendees will be able to develop a plan for i-device use and evaluate the effectiveness of Apps for specific users
