Multiple studies demonstrate that some children with autism have increase body levels of environmental contaminants, such as heavy metals, pesticides, and chemicals. Many of these children also have inflammation in the brain and increased levels of oxidative stress. All of these problems can impair function in these children. We will review how you can test for these problems and individualize treatments for you child.

Dan Rossignol, MD, FAAFP received his Doctorate of Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia and completed his residency in family medicine at the University of Virginia. Some of his clinical interests include the study of antioxidants, anti-inflammatory medications, and nutritional supplements in neurodevelopment disorders, including autism.
