The Casey Life Skills tools are an invaluable resource for youth/adults on the autism spectrum. The use of computerized assessment allows greater comfort in sharing their perspective on their skills, while creating a supportive environment where individuals can build self assessment and negotiation skills. Participants will leave with a better understanding of the Life Skills tools as well as how to effectively use them. Get the "Aspie" and NT perspective. Master Interdependency! Independent? Nah! Rather, we, live lives of Interdependency, fostered by our ability to utilize our talents and Life skills in ways that help build social relationships in the community, home and on the job.

John, a 37 year old man with Asperger says, "For years, I felt that I was just a Lighthouse in a bog. incredibly bright, maybe brilliant, but useless".  Many adults and teens with Asperger and HFA can identify with this statement. Often very bright, having great insights and skills, but hindered by a lack of social and relationship building skills, it has been a struggle to find direction in life.  It has been difficult to plan a course of action leading to career and personal satisfaction.

The Ansell-Casey Lifeskills Tools have been adapted successfully to be used as an assessment, planning and self-determination tool for this population.  Over the years, many teens and adults on the spectrum have been able to find meaningful insights into career and "life" paths based on understanding of what skills are lacking; which are necessary; and how does a meningful learning plan get created.

As a woman on the spectrum, Cameron has been able to add her special insights to helping to develop and modify these tools so that individuals on the spectrum can get a better understanding of how these tools can make a difference when properly used. Herm, also a Casey Trainer has successfully modified these tools and used them in private and public practice for over 3 years with individuals with ASD.  Together, Herm and Cameron will show you:
